Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is the Principal Recipient (PR) for 'The Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB & Malaria, Round 7, HIV/AIDS Counselling Programme'-SAKSHAM. This project strives to strengthen human capacities of the national health system to undertake quality counselling for HIV and thereby support the HIV prevention, care and support objectives of the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), through measureable impact. The 'Research Specialist' will report to the 'National Programme Director, SAKSHAM'.

The roles and responsibilities for the position are detailed as below:

  • Conceptualize and develop proposals for research projects.
  • Monitor the execution of research project(s), including implementation of data collection, data analysis, and assisting with reporting requirements.
  • Assemble documentation, secure necessary authorizations needed for research projects.
  • Provide expertise around quantitative and qualitative program evaluation.
  • Review material developed by the programme
  • Plan and conduct seminar/conference/workshop
  • Disseminate research results through publications and presentations.
  • Any other task assigned by the National Programme Director, Saksham
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Psychology/Social Work/ Population Studies/ Public Health/ Counseling
Essential skills :
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in Research projects or as independent researcher or in the field of HIV/AIDS and health sector
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ease with MS Office-Word, Excel
Desirable Skills: :
  • 1-2 Publications.

The 'Program Manager' will report to the 'National Programme Director, SAKSHAM'.

The roles and responsibilities for the position are detailed as below:
  • Liaison and coordinate with Mumbai District TB Control Society (MDTCS) and Mumbai District Aids Control Society (MDACS) for the smooth implementation of TB-HIV prevention activities initiated by Saksham
  • Undertake mentoring and monitoring of counsellors appointed by Saksham for project activities.
  • Develop training manuals as per the programme needs.
  • Plan and implement training programmes and supportive supervision for TB-HIV Counsellors appointed by Saksham.
  • Plan and implement the training programmes for the staff of Mumbai District TB Control Society MDTCS).
  • Coordinate with Monitoring & Evaluation and Finance teams at Principal Recipient Saksham, TISS for data and finance management.
  • Monitor programme activities for targets and deliverables as per the plan.
  • Any other task as and when assigned by the National Programme Director
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Desired Qualification: Master in Public Health/ Master in Health Administration/Master of Social Work/M.A.(Psychology).
Experience:
  • Minimum 4-6 years of working experience at managerial level in the related field of HIV/AIDS or TB control or Public health and other related fields

Essential skills and requirements:
  • Ability to strategise and implement the programme to get the expected outcome.
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills
  • Good Analytical and Presentation Skill
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, Marathi and Hindi.
  • Proficiency in using computers. Knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel, PPT.
  • Willingness to travel.

Saksham in collaboration with Mumbai District TB Control Society (MDTCS) has planned to initiate counselling services for TB-HIV prevention programme in Mumbai district.

The roles and responsibilities for the position are detailed as below:
  • Provide counselling services to TB patients and their care givers in the select hospitals and wards of Mumbai.
  • Coordinate with MDTCS staff and MDACS (Mumbai District AIDS Control Society) to strengthen TB-HIV referrals.
  • Provide referrals of various social protection schemes and services to TB patient and their caregivers/households.
  • Organize & facilitate community meetings along with TB Peer Educators (PEs).
  • Maintain registers, documents and monthly reports of programme and finance as per requirement.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
  • Post graduate in Social Work/Psychology (Candidates with Counselling background will be preferred).
Essential requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years of work experience in health related counseling. Eg. HIV/AIDS, RCH.TB, STI, ART, suicide prevention.
  • Good communication skills-written as well as spoken-in Marathi, Hindi and English.
  • Knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel and PPT.
  • Willingness to travel in different areas of Mumbai as and when required.
  • Willingness to work with TB patient and their caregivers
