GFATM Round 7

Saksham is a GFATM's Round 7, HIV/AIDS counselling programme in India.

The objectives of GFATM Round 7 are: NACO Link
Objective 1: Enhance the Nurses and Institutional capacity of 55 nurse training institutes.
Objective 2: Enhance the institutional capacities of 40 counsellor training institutes and conduct capacity building for counsellors.
Objective 3: Build a rural community outreach model to address the complex needs of rural prevention, care and support requirements in 121 high prevalence/high vulnerable districts.

Saksham aims to fulfill one of these objectives: i.e. to "Enhance the institutional capacities of key counsellor training institutes and conduct capacity building for counsellors."

In the long run, the Saksham programme aims to become a potential resource group for South and West Asia on HIV/ AIDS counselling and training. The total grant amount for HIV/AIDS counselling is USD 18.2 million.

Saksham is accountable to:
  • India Country Coordinating Mechanism (India- CCM)
  • National AIDS Control Programme
  • The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
  • Persons living with HIV/AIDS and marginalized communities
Saksham is committed to the vision of "an India where every person living with HIV has access to quality care and is treated with dignity." The total grant amount for HIV/AIDS counselling programme is USD 18.2 million. The grant received is being utilized to improve the quality of lives and uphold the rights and dignity of persons living with HIV/ AIDS and marginalized communities.
